7 WAYS TO CREATE NEW HABITS

STEP 1: KEEP IT SIMPLE

You can't change everything in one day. If you take on too much too early the chances of staying motivated and continuing diminish significantly, and so does the actual enjoyment. Start small and build on it, and then build on it some more. Give yourself 30 days-- block out that month in your calendar and build your momentum.

 STEP 2: STAY CONSISTENT

This is where that momentum is important-- the more consistent your behaviours, the easier it will be to shift the habit. Remember, the more time between each ac-tion the more difficult it will be to form new behaviours and habits.

STEP 3: DON'T GIVE THINGS UP, TAKE THINGS UP!

We get caught in this idea that we have to give everything up and life becomes a chore and something that we can't enjoy. If you are giving up something, make sure you are replacing any needs you’ve lost. It doesn't have to be boring and tire-some, find some new ways you can still enjoy the same old things.

STEP 4: ENJOY-- YOU'RE ALIVE

It doesn't have to be perfect all the time; things don't change overnight and all your habits won't be successful. Have some fun with it, experiment and enjoy trying new things. Just try your best and don't be so hard on yourself if things don't work out how you imagined it. Play around and remember that life is made up of new

STEP 5: KNOW WHY YOU'RE DOING IT

If you know why you're really doing something and understand its importance you will be more likely to persist. Write down how much it will benefit your life, what it will mean to you to have changed this or achieved that. Really familiarise yourself with the process and the outcomes and educate yourself on why such a change is actually needed, and wanted, in your life.

STEP 6: BE ACCOUNTABLE

If you really take the time to educate yourself on the benefits of making changes in your life you will be more likely to hold yourself accountable. Further to this making it known to friends, family and colleagues will hold yourself even more account-able and keep you committed and disciplined. your kitchen or, at the very least, make it harder to reach.

STEP 7: COMMUNITY

Making big changes in life is challenging and difficult, but they should also be fun, enjoyable and rewarding. When we first step on the path of change it can be daunting, but a secret to behavioural change is to get involved in a community. This way you don't have to do it alone, especially when you are just starting out.
